About MOACUT
Smart 2D Nesting & Cut List Optimizer designed to eliminate sheet material scrap waste and maximize yield across fabrication, printing, and manufacturing workflows.
Our Mission & Purpose
In woodworking, signage, laser, and CNC shops, the same cut list can need a different number of stock sheets depending on how the rectangles are arranged. Total part area alone does not tell you how many sheets to buy.
MOACUT is a browser-based planner for rectangular sheet layouts. Enter the sheet size, part list, kerf spacing, edge margin, and rotation rule, and it returns the required sheet count, utilization, and a drawing of every sheet, without installing desktop CAD/CAM software.
Who We Serve
Plan rectangular sign panels, foam boards, acrylic displays, and print sheets with part spacing and an edge margin.
Lay out stickers, acrylic keyrings, and small-batch goods by their rectangular outer size. Nesting of the die-cut shape itself is not supported.
Plywood, MDF, and particle board cut list optimization considering saw blade kerf thickness and wood grain direction.
Pro users can export 1:1 DXF and vector PDF layout drawings for each sheet. Toolpaths and G-code are not generated; that work stays in your CAM software.
How the Nesting Engine Works
MOACUT calculates rectangular layouts in your browser in the following order (a bottom-left heuristic).
- Area-Sorted Placement: Evaluates part dimensions and quantities sorted by area to lock in major components first.
- Kerf Spacing & Edge Offsets: Accurately enforces saw blade or tool bit clearances and sheet clamping margins.
- 90° Rotation: When rotation is allowed, each candidate position is tested in both orientations; turn it off to keep grain or print direction.
- Browser-Side Calculation: Layout math runs in your browser (sign-in required). Layout data leaves the browser only when a Pro user requests a DXF/PDF export.
Current Scope and Limits
- Only rectangular parts on rectangular sheets are nested. Circles, curves, and true-shape nesting are not supported.
- The rotation setting applies to the whole calculation. Run parts with different grain rules separately.
- Placement uses a bottom-left heuristic, so the mathematically minimum sheet count is not guaranteed.
- CAM toolpaths, G-code, cutter compensation, lead-ins, and tabs are not generated.
- Calculating requires sign-in. Free accounts can calculate up to 10 part types and 30 pieces per run; Pro calculates larger lists (up to 10,000 pieces).
