Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Key questions and answers regarding MOACUT 2D nesting operations, kerf spacing, CSV batch import, CAD exports, and pricing policies.
In MOACUT, 2D nesting arranges rectangular parts on flat stock sheets to estimate sheet requirements and expose unused area.
Detailed guide: How to Calculate Required Sheet QuantityMOACUT is designed for woodworking cabinetry, sign printing, acrylic merchandise production, sticker gang sheets, CNC router cutting, and laser machining.
Kerf represents the physical width of material removed by the cutting tool (saw blade, CNC router bit, or laser beam). Accounting for kerf ensures finished components maintain precise specified dimensions.
Detailed guide: How Kerf Affects Sheet NestingWith 0 kerf, rectangle edges touch in the layout. That is valid only when the process deliberately shares one cut between neighboring parts (common-line cutting). With independent cuts, the tool removes material from the neighbor and parts come out undersized, so enter a process-validated spacing value.
Detailed guide: How Kerf Affects Sheet NestingEdge margin provides safe clearance around sheet perimeters to avoid damaged factory edges and provide holding room for CNC clamps or vacuum gaskets.
Detailed guide: CNC Sheet Optimization WorkflowAllowing 90° rotation lets each candidate position be tested in both orientations. It can fill narrow remainders and raise utilization, but turn it off for materials with grain or print direction.
Detailed guide: How to Calculate Required Sheet QuantitySolid timber and veneered plywood feature prominent grain patterns. Disabling rotation ensures all pieces maintain matching grain alignment for aesthetic consistency.
Yes. In addition to standard presets (like 4x8 ft or 1220x2440mm), you can enter any custom millimeter dimensions.
Yes. The CSV import feature allows importing large part lists (dimensions and quantities) in a single click.
Yes. Simply export or save your spreadsheet as a standard CSV (Comma-Separated Values) file and import it directly.
Results are displayed as responsive SVG in the browser, but there is no standalone SVG download. Printing is available, and authenticated Pro users can export server-generated DXF and vector PDF.
Authenticated Pro users can export 1:1 vector pages containing rectangular parts and dimension labels. The PDF is a layout reference and contains no CAM toolpaths or machine settings.
Core nesting runs in the browser. When a Pro DXF/PDF is requested, the calculated layout and sheet dimensions are sent to the authenticated server export API to generate the file.
Free accounts can run core nesting for up to 10 part types and 30 total pieces per calculation. Sign-in is required to calculate.
Pro supports calculations above the free 10-type / 30-piece limit and authenticated server-generated 1:1 DXF and vector PDF exports. The calculator-wide ceiling is 10,000 pieces.
You retain full access to Pro features until the end of your current paid billing period with no automatic renewal thereafter.
Refund inquiries can be submitted with transaction details to contact@moacut.com or via Paddle Buyer Support.
It can plan sheet count and placement for rectangular CNC or laser parts using a process-validated spacing input. It does not calculate CAM toolpaths, laser process settings, or machine code.
Detailed guide: CNC Sheet Optimization Workflow · Detailed guide: Laser Cutting Sheet Nesting WorkflowYes. By turning off 'Allow Rotation', parts strictly preserve their inputted width and height orientation.
Yes. The current heuristic allocates new sheets as needed for varying rectangular dimensions, but it does not guarantee a global optimum.
